Sara Finkle @ Andy’s Bar – Denton, TX (support:Vaughn Faison)

Sara Finkle

On a brisk December evening, I made my way to Andy’s Bar in anticipation for Denton native, Sara Finkle’s EP release party. When I arrived, the bar was borderline empty, excluding the opener, Vaughn Faison, who was setting up and the few staff members for that evening. Taking a seat at one of the standing bar tables I finished setting up my gear and simply waited. Before long the venue was full of eager family members and friends who came out to support the endeavors of a young artist. Something told me this show would be different from what I would be expecting.

Denton can be considered a jazz city for many and this night held tribute to that belief. Vaughn Faison. He knew how to entice a crowd. The moment his set began the entire venue was captivated by his soul-rich voice. Every songs’ conclusion was rewarded with roaring applause. Andy’s Bar seemed to transform and transport us into another decade in time. Song after song, he kept the spirits of the crowd alive. Singing originals such as “Gotta Have You” and “Moving Up” every song hung in the atmosphere, leaving everyone in high spirits. Vaughn effortlessly started the night out strong.

Sara Finkle. Full of grace and poise, took to the stage with a radiant smile. Friends and family gathered closer to the stage allowing themselves to be fully immersed in the performance she was about to give. Everything about her set was stunning. From her outfit, which featured a very snazzy jacket, to the magenta lights that radiated energy. Those who listened to her EP before arrived were in for quite a surprise when she began. Being supported by a full band, Sara gave a powerful performance that made it impossible to turn away. “Around Again” from her EP, was a transition from more upbeat to mellow. A transition done effortlessly. “Left Behind” pulled on the heartstrings of many. Shifting from upbeat to mellow made it hard to decide whether to dance, cry or a bit of both.

People had their phones positioned on Sara for every note. Documenting the unforgettable night. Some were dancing while others who knew the songs did not mind singing along with every bit of their soul. The emotion within that bar became one of passion and love. Everyone was cheering on a young artist who put her whole heart into her work. I believe that people left the show changed through the power of music. With more love in their hearts and higher spirits to power through the remainder of the week.

All in all. The release of her EP “Sink or Swim” was a raving success. Everyone had nothing but praises to share after she hopped off the stage. The outpouring of love and support was present with every hug she gave. Sara Finkle is an exceptional young artist who has touched the hearts of many and will touch the hearts of more through the power of song.
