Since forming the band as childhood friends in 2005, English pop-rock legends Scouting For Girls have had a successful, long-standing career and truly solidified themselves as a staple in UK music. The band now find themselves on a huge 15-year anniversary, playing sold-out shows across the UK. Scouting For Girls consists of members Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse, Peter Ellard and touring guitarist Jamie O’Gorman. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2008 and it landed them their first ever UK number one on the album charts. The debut album featured iconic tracks like “Elvis ain’t dead”, “Heartbeat” and “She’s so lovely”, so it was no wonder why it was such a huge success and launched the band into the stratosphere. Scouting For Girls only went on to see further success in their career, using this debut launch as a stepping stone to reach new heights. We were lucky enough catch Scouting For Girls as they celebrated 15 years of the band and took over Manchester’s iconic Albert Hall for a super special sold-out show. Support for the night came from Jessie Dipper and Rosie Smith.
This show quite simply had everything. From the beautiful setting that is the historic Albert Hall building, to the iconic giant SFG LED light that donned the stage. Scouting For Girls bring nothing but a good time and party to their live shows and this was no different. The boys played a wide range of songs from their long-standing discography, taking the audience on a journey through their releases as the night went on. Frontman Roye even joined the upper balcony section of the venue which sent the crowd into a frenzy as he performed amongst the sold-out fans! There was plenty of fan interaction with the boys standing tall with a GoPro filming the fans reactions throughout the night and even asked the crowd to join in on the chorus of an unreleased track, with the promise that a recording of each show on the tour would be used on the finished track in the future. Scouting For Girls even teased that a new album would be released in 2023 and we can’t wait to hear it! With this show taking place on 1st December we were treated to a real-festive encore with confetti snow and everything as the Scouting For Girls played the show out with “xmas in the 80s”.
