Slipknot played an electrified Keybank Pavilion on August 23rd in Burgettstwon, Pennsylvania. After three diverse chaotic artist opened. The first act was the brutal death metal act known as Behemoth. Followed by progressive metal act Gojira then finishing up with the genre bending Volbeat. Then at last it was time for Slipknot.

The bands Iowa intro song (515) kicked in as the crowd erupted, waiting for the gigantic Slipknot banner to drop from in front of the stage and wow, we were in for a treat! The heavy metal icons performed songs from every single album they have put out such as get this, prosthetics, wait and bleed, people = shit before I forget, the devil in I, suffer, and so much more while managing to make it all sound super unique. For example, Sid scratching unique samples to certain songs or the guitarists adding their own deviations from the solos as we heard their performance ‘Psychosocial’. Throughout the set, Corey Taylor amped up the audience like I’ve never seen any frontman do before, he made all of us in the audience feel like one big metal family.

Going to slipknot shows you know when ‘Spit it out’ starts to play it’s gone time. During the breakdown of the song, Corey Taylor notoriously tells the crowd to get down to the ground and jump up whenever he says to! It is a sight to see a sea of people jumping like they’ve never have before and Corey was impressed! The final track to play was the band’s chaotic anthem known as Surfing, which ended the show on a very high note. With the encore, they then played ’Til We Die’ as they always do after every show in honor of Paul Grey. Every opener and Slipknot put on such an intimate show, you’d think you were in a small venue watching them from 10 feet away rather than standing in a pavilion lawn crowd and that is an experience all on its own.
