Slowthai @ The 02 Victoria Warehouse – Manchester, U.K.

British rapper Slowthai knows how to cause mayhem. Whether that be with his energetic performances or outspoken lyrics, he’s truly one of a kind. What can’t be questioned however is his immense musical talents. The 27-year-old released his second studio album ‘Tyron’ (named after himself) in February 2021 which flew straight into the UK charts at number 1, earning Slowthai his first ever number 1 UK album. The album was well received by critics and fans alike, bringing new eyes to the rising talent and for many this piece of work was their album of the year. Slowthai is becoming notorious for landing incredible features, having worked with artists such as Gorillaz, Skepta and America’s own A$AP Rocky and having recently announced a leg of show in the US, he is clearly beginning to broaden his horizons and earning an audience outside of the UK. Speaking of his energetic performances, we were lucky enough to catch Slowthai as he performed to a sold-out crowd at Manchester’s very own O2 Victoria Warehouse. Support for the night came from Knucks and Deb Never.

The roof of the venue seemed like it would literally explode as the lights went dark and the rapper took to the stage to truly kick off the Manchester show of his ‘hell is home’ tour. With a giant LED screen onstage and fire bars across the front of the stage, the crowd were in for a real treat. Slowthai stormed onto the stage and kicked the night off with “ENEMY”, the rapper would go on to perform a mix of songs from both of his albums, ‘Tyron’ and ‘Nothing Great About Britain’ as well as some of his previously mentioned feature songs. The star was feeding off of the crowd’s energy throughout the entire night and it went hand in hand with the electric performance that he was putting on for them before their very own eyes. As the night continued he played several fan favourites like, “Doorman” and “Drug Dealer” which were much to the fans delight. Slowthai quite simply puts on a show that you have to see to truly experience, a phenomenal talent with phenomenal performance energy.
