Nashville native Sophie Allison, A.K.A. Soccer Mommy, brought her tour to Houston in support of the album “Color Theory” and it was a show that should not have been missed. Fans lined up outside of White Oak Music Hall early in the day to make sure they got a good spot near the barricade to see their favorite artist up close. The show encouraged fans to only come to the show if they were vaccinated or if masks were worn at all times.
The set started with the song “Bloodstream”, the opening song for “Color Theory” and immediately the crowd went wild. Everyone cheered, and sang the song with their entire heart and soul. It’s such a great feeling hearing and seeing people enjoy themselves after going so long without concerts due to COVID-19. Throughout the show, Sophie encouraged the fans to keep their mask on if they were not actively eating or drinking to help mitigate the spread of the virus. It’s great to see performers care about the health and safety of their fans. One of my personal favorite songs that was performed was “Crawling in my Skin”, the instrumental in the song was so groovy it gave me chills. Throughout the show, Soccer Mommy stopped to talk with fans, answer questions and just interact with everyone, I really admire that in an artist.
Soccer Mommy finished the set with the song “Dagger”, after everyone went off stage the crowd cheered for more songs to be played. All you could hear throughout the venue was “Encore, Encore Encore!” After the loud cheers, Sophie and the band came back and performed 3 songs as part of their encore, which included the songs; “Yellow is the Color of her Eyes”, “Your Dog” and the final song, “Scorpio Rising”, who she dedicated to all the fans in the crowd who had a Scorpio Rising sign. If possible, make sure to check out Soccer Mommy on tour, it’s definitely a show you do not want to miss, upcoming tour dates are shown below.
