On the back of their success in the summer down under the indie quartet, Spacey Jane. Performing at the O2 Ritz in Manchester, the outfit from Fremantle, Western Australia, landed in the UK at the start of the month and were playing to an already sold out crowd. Touring with duet Dolores Forever. The crowd wasn’t let down by the thumping set lists to come.
Starting off the night with a set from the colourful Dolores Forever the indie duo, Hannah and Julia, had the job to get the crowd moving. Their symphonic melodies and their catchy hooks proved to work well, “Party in my Mind” sticks out to me as their strongest single, that reminds me pleasantly of the beginning of Haim but is unique enough that I know I’m listening to something fresh and new. One to watch out for.
The set began with their iconic tune Lunchtime, from their coveted record “Here Comes Everybody” by the second verse the crowd was already in love with the show. Ashton giving a helping hand with the eccentric guitar movements throughout the solo on “Feeding the Family” the band just seems well held together, cohesive even. As if they know everyone’s next move and they play on that. They would’ve been on that stage all night if time allowed and I’m sure the crowd wouldn’t move an inch too. The energy the band had on the stage was infectious, pockets of friends moshing together for the build of “Sawteeth” I wish I was in the crowd to be honest, it was an incredible show and we definetely recommend attending a show!
