LA based rock band Starcrawler, with the charismatic front woman Arrow de Wilde finally visited Liverpool, UK for the first time.
The band had previously played close to Liverpool but never within the city itself. Past gigs being in Manchester, with their last in Warrington where they played as a support to My Chemical Romance. So a massive thank you to a local promoter Evol for bringing them finally to our great city.
The band has released two studio albums so far; Starcrawler and Devour You. Both very well received by both fans and critics.
How do you differentiate between a good and exceptional rock band? It must be a frontman or in this particular case a frontwoman.
Artists like Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, Jim Morrison, Courtney Love, Debbie Harry and Amy Winehouse (just to name a few) made a massive difference and put their bands on completely different level. I believe that Arrow de Wilde can join the this list, Her look, moves and charisma mixed with great voice elevated a good, talented band to an exceptional level. Maybe we don’t see this yet but in 30 years from now the band will be remembered as one of the greatest in the history of rock music. The concert took place at Jimmy’s Club, in the heart of the city and was supported by two local bands ‘Torture and Desert Spiders’ and ‘Tits Up’.
Around 9:15pm the stage was graced by the American musicians and started from ‘Good time girl’. Mixed age fans started enjoying themselves during the next song and some guy appeared out of nowhere and started forcing himself towards the first row. He pushed other fans and was aggressive but other gig goers ejected him immediately! There is no place for aggression, homophobia or misogyny at any concert in this town! The set list included 22 songs and we heard tunes like ‘Roadkill’, ‘Pet sematary , ‘Stranded’, ‘Bet my brains’ and ‘I love LA’. At the end of the last song ‘Chicken Woman’ Henri Cash invited four young super fans to the stage, gave them his guitar and let them finish the gig. What a wonderful way to finish this outstanding set! Top performance from Californian band! Definitely a night to remember for years to come. They proved to be one of the best rock bands around and I can’t wait for their new album ‘She said’ which is set to be released on September 16th 2022.
