The Assist Part II

I had the chance to talk about music with a new innovative band in the U.K. They embody the true rock start vibe both  in their persona and of course their music. It is fresh, electrifying, and honest. They had so much to say about music that the interview had to be split into two parts. Ain’t that amazing. I truly believe true artist that are honest and raw have an understanding of music that is hard to find today. So without further due Music, Why Not! is glad to present The Assist!

MWN: What would you say is the biggest highlight of your music career so far?

The Assist: Our biggest highlight so far would have to be the 2016 festival season. As well as having stupid amounts of fun at festivals such as ‘Leeds’ & ‘Y Not’ we also made great friends within the industry which will benefit ourselves tremendously over the coming months. I’m pretty sure we was on the wanted list of almost every security member of LEEDS as we were only promised one night’s stay. We did however manage to stay the whole weekend and camp with staff.

MWN: That sounds AWESOME! I love festival season as well even though I can imagine the experience for the artist is completely different! However, it is a relief to see how grounded you guys are. It is without a doubt that it reflects on your tunes. They are really good very clean tracks and lyrics that actually mean something. With all the songs you guys have released so far such as Love, Things get good, Fashion, Time. Which is your favorite to perform live?

The Assist: We like to finish on Love and it’s probably our favorite song to play. Time is also a song full of energy which helps to really get the crowd involved. I’ve no doubt we dance just as much as the crowd do which I’m sure has an impact.

MWN: I love how you guys think of the crowd. That is really important I would say to the success of a band.  I want to throw in there that I always wonder how bands come up with names to their songs. So can you guys spill? Haha!

The Assist: The songs are named when the lyrics are written, often named after the experience I went through and how it influenced me to write the specific song. Certain song titles are discussed throughout the production and recording of the song itself. That way then it’s easier to study the lyrics and find a true meaning based upon how different people relate to the lyrics.

MWN: That is very interesting. Every band has a different way of naming their songs. It is super important because most of them time that attaches to people. Now as we come to the end of our interview I am going to ask you guys a couple of fun questions to close this out! Alright FLASH ROUND here we go. What is your dream arena/ stage to play?

The Assist: Our dream stage would have to be Wolverhampton civic hall. We’re so lucky to have such a prestigious venue so close to home. There have been some top bands to of played there over the years and it would be a massive ‘Fuck You’ to any of the locals that have doubted us over the years.

MWN: Oh man, I love that! Proving those people that you did it is the best feeling! Now, if you guys could play a show/ hang out with any musician who would it be?

The Assist: We’re lucky to of met some great characters within the music industry throughout the years but one we haven’t met who we would certainly love to meet would afto be Flea of red hot chilli peppers. He’s an extrinsic personality and I’m sure he’d be down for causing some trouble of some sort with us.

MWN: Oh my I would love to sit an interview him as well. He is such a class musician as well! You guys have awesome guitar tracks in the songs… what is your favorite brand of guitars?

The Assist: Rickenbackers are a great brand of guitar and have provided us well over the years we have been playing. Purely for tone alone I think they win. However Ryan’s recently went under maintenance after severe gig wear and tear. For the meantime he is playing with a fender which also has great tone and picks up his pedals incredibly well. Pedals are a pivotal part of our sound.

MWN: Rickenbackers company you heard them they have been loyal! Sponsors? Hahaha! Just kidding even though that wouldn’t be such a bad thing hahaha! One more question just because we are having so much fun. I hope haha, okay so what do you hope to accomplish with your music from today until the end of 2016?

The Assist: Haha well we have enormous plans from now until the end of the year. We also hope enormous things will become of these enormous plans.

MWN: You guys are amazing and your music is truly original. I really hope to see you on the main stage at Glastonbury one day. Thank you guys so much!
