Let’s be honest, whosever idea it was to put The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer on the same tour together is a genius. Thursday, November 21, 2019 people of all ages flooded the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Some fans who had been waiting outside in line for over 6 hours, instantly ran towards the GA floor in order to grab their spot at the barricade.

Opening up for the two bands was pop artist Lennon Stella. She performed her popular song “La Di Da” and definitely loosened up the crowd for the show that was about to come. The minute that lights went off and 5SOS walked on stage the arena went wild! By this time, the whole arena was already packed. They opened up with one of their older hits, “She Looks So Perfect” and I don’t think I’ve ever heard an arena sing along to a song as loud as these fans did. Girls at the barricade were crying and holding up their posters expressing their love for 5SOS. It was beautiful. When 5SOS performed “Amnesia” I got super nostalgic, remembering my teenage days, blasting that song in my bedroom. It was really beautiful to hear it live. After a long, fulfilling 5SOS set, you could see a lot of fans didn’t want to see them go. But they had a surprise for later.

Now it was time for The Chainsmokers. The stage went pitch black, followed by these illuminating orange lights, lighting up the back of the stage. Intense music started playing and emerging from backstage came out Drew, holding a lit up torch in his hand. That small torch was an indicator for what to come because The Chainsmokers do not mess around! There was so much fire and energy and the lights throughout the show were insane. The lasers following the beats to the music and when major drops happened, they visually paired it with intense explosions! A Chainsmokers show is unlike anything you’ve seen. The boys do not mess around. From all the fire, to the crazy stage effects, the long cat walk, motor cross riders and intense light shows, they had it all. The crowd was wild the whole time because they just kept surprising us over and over, even by bringing out Lennon Stella again to perform “Takeaway” and 5SOS to perform “Who Do You Love”. Obviously a classic like “ROSES” was iconic and the entire arena was on their feet. It was an unforgettable show.
