Hello, I’m Jen from Music, Why Not! Just wanted to start off by saying congratulations on your debut EP! I watched your WAM festival set on YouTube and was completely entranced by your performance. Despite it being a recording, I could feel the rawness and blazing energy. It’s incredible and infectious.

Hi Jen thanks for your kind words! 🙂 I’m Henry (guitarist/singer) answering the questions.

Since the band recently formed in 2018, did you all meet at school or just around the area in Warrington?

We were all in the same music class at Priestley College in Warrington and we just kind of became friends really quickly which was cool.

You’ve listed Zappa, The New York Dolls, and the Velvet Underground as your main influences, what is it about that era in music that resonates with you guys? Are there other eras in music that further inspired your music ?

I think it’s the rawness and the simplicity that attracts us towards that whole 50s/60s/70s Rock n’ Roll. I mean we’re also huge fans of the whole garage rock revival which kind of started in the early 2000’s and is really still powering through to this day and i feel like that’s had a huge impact on our sound.

When did you realize that “Do It Fast, Do it Loud” represented your band’s identity?

It’s just always what our sound gravitates towards, it’s inevitable. Plus it sounds good.

What was it like working at Rockfield Studios? Many legends have been there.

It’s amazing. Our producer (Thighpaulsandra) is really in sync with our sound and to do it in such an amazing studio just makes it even better. The recording process is a lot more fun when you stay in the middle of nowhere, it’s like a holiday.

Have you planned out which areas in the UK you want to tour once the pandemic ends?

Hit up the main cities as usual I guess, the best shows are always in the bigger cities. We’ve never played a show in Scotland or Northern Ireland so it’ll be cool to tick those off in the new year.

Which artists/bands would you want to tour with?

Black Lips has always been one we’ve wanted to support, Thee Oh Sees too. Most bands we wanna support are always from the USA so it’s kinda tough to fulfil those dreams.

How have you been keeping busy during the lockdown?

Little bit of songwriting here and there and planning the Release mainly. We’ve spoken a lot about plans for next year and such, there’s lots of places we wanna travel and play shows, especially around Europe.

What albums have you been listening to?

I’ve really gotten into Charles Trenet over the past few weeks so i’ve been listening to a lot of his albums lately. I find his music really zen.

Lastly, how soon do you think it’ll be till you tour the States and which city do you look forward to the most?

We were actually planning a few shows in California before Covid came so I’m guessing that’ll be the first place we hit up. We’ve always wanted to tour the states so It’ll definitely happen.
