The Marias (consisting of Maria Zardoya, Josh Conway, Edward James and Jesse Perlman) brought their Cinema tour to a sold out crowd at White Oak Music Hall and it was such an incredible show, it should not have been missed.
Fans waited outside in the cold weather for hours trying to make sure they got a good spot once inside the venue. It’s amazing to see the dedication that they have. The venue/tour required a negative covid test or a vaccination card to get entry into the show, the staff was very proactive and checked everyone in line as they came and waited and gave them their wristband. You could hear fans say how much safer it made them feel considering the pandemic we have been going through.
Once the doors opened, the fans ran inside to try and get as close as possible to the band. Many of them were screaming in excitement because after waiting for hours outside in the cold, they accomplished what they wanted, which was being in the front row. Venezuelan singer, Maye, was the opener for the show. Everyone in the crowd really vibed to her, you could see everyone just enjoying the moment and enjoying her music. There was a moment when she covered Bad Bunny’s and J. Balvins “La Cancion”, everyone immediately started singing along to it, including myself, it’s a very popular song in the Hispanic/Latin community .
It was finally time for The Marias to perform, the lights went dark and curtains dropped, “Just a Feeling” played in the background as the lights flashed around the stage. The band came on stage and the song transitioned to “Calling U Back”, the crowd immediately screamed with excitement. I’ve personally been a fan of the band for a few years now and it was surreal seeing them on stage, I’m pretty sure everyone around me felt the same way. The band then continued to sing more songs from their “Cinema” album such as “Little by Little”, “Hable Con Ella”, “Heavy” and many more!
After performing a few songs, lead singer Maria gave a small speech. She thanked everyone for coming to the show and reminded fans of how much the band loved them. They then proceeded to sing “Over The Moon” from their “Superclean, Vol. II” EP. This was the first song I ever listened to by the band and just hearing it live gave me chills. Following that, they played their cover of “…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears. It was one of the moments where I heard the crowd the loudest, it was a pretty cool moment.
The band finished the song with “Carino” and everyone sang at the top of their lungs, including myself. It was a great way to end the set, with one of their most popular songs. Below are the tour dates for The Marias, if they come to a city near you please make sure to check them out, you will not want to miss it!
