Coming across class musicians and true music is like finding a lucky four leaf clover. I know that sounds a bit cliche, but it is quite true. I sit for hours listening to demos, SoundCloud, Spotify, and YouTube until I find a band that really hits me. A band whose lyrics speak to me, whose melodies are complex and clean, whose style is unique, and lastly whose passion reflects through their songs. There is a lot to consider when it comes to making music and a lot put on the line. Is the music you are creating making a difference? Is it true to who you are? Are your songs talking about something meaningful? Music lives by these questions. You know you are listening to a good tune when these questions answer themselves. All those qualities I found in a band who goes by the name of The Western Sons.
I was convinced the moment my staff member brought my attention to their songs on Spotify that I wanted to talk to them about their music. I heard their songs and they brought me back to great genre in music 80’s classic rock. The song 49′ which is the last song of their album Frontiers I would describe as holistic. They use a combination of warm and bright chords that somehow bring you back to the rock ballads of the 80’s and 90’s. The song has a very nice tonality. Both the drum tracks and their strumming patterns create a very lively rhythm that carries you through the song very nicely. It builds you up in the right moments. The quality of the song leaves you wanting more.
