Music, Why Not!

Tinashe @ Bayou Music Center – Houston, TX

Singer Tinashe brings the ‘Match My Freak’ world tour to Houston’s Bayou Music Center.

The Aquarius queen from Kentucky returned to Houston. Most recently, Tinashe released her seventh studio album titled Quantum Baby, which includes her hit single “Nasty.” The album serves as the second album in her unnamed album trilogy; she first introduced her trilogy in 2023 with the album BB/Ang3L

The actress turned singer took over Houston’s Bayou Music Center, as fans lined up in eager anticipation for the show. While Tinashe’s setlist included a great blend of songs from her discography, she aimed to show off the Quantum Baby era. She started off with “Getting No Sleep,” followed by “When I Get You Alone” and “Needs.” Right off the bat, fans note the intense stage choreography. The backup dancers moved together like a machine, making for an entrancing performance.

With performing hits like “Talk to Me Nice,” “Party Favors,” “Save Room for Us,” and “Cross that Line,” Tinashe showcased her R&B vocals through angelic crescendos and impressive high notes. Fans in the crowd often hyped up the singer through powerful chants and empowering praise. Everyone in the crowd sang along to every single word, in which Tinashe visibily admired. The stage set was also full of props like CCTV cameras and a high platform stage. The singer utilized it ALL in her performance, resulting in a theater-like show.

Tinashe ended her initial set with a mashup of “Gravity” and “Superlove,” in which she walked off the stage to the tune of Snakehips’ track “All My Friends.” She returned to the stage and performed a new rendition of her signature track “No Broke Boys.” The singer and her dancers broke out into sensual dance and vibes as she ended her Houston show with the track that put her back on the map titled “Nasty.” Her set established her quota as one of R&B’s best singers / performers in the scene, and it was safe to say that she was absolutely locked in.
