The Zimbabwean-Australian singer-songwriter and rapper, Tkay Maidza hit the stage of the Bronze Peacock in Houston, Texas for The Sweet Justice tour, and through her boundless energy and infectious beats, she captivated her audience from start to finish. With the release of her latest studio album Sweet Justice, fans got to dance, scream, and sing their way through the setlist this tour as she played hits from the album as well as knock-outs from previous projects.
The night opened with Tayla Parx, commanding the stage and engaging the audience which set the stage for an unforgettable night of fantastic music and killer vocals. Fans waited in anticipation for Tkay and before they knew it, the lights began to dim in preparation for her to take center stage. The audience went wild as Tkay Maidza opened the night with ‘Grasshopper’, ‘Love and Other Drugs’, and ‘Won One’. There wasn’t a still body in the room as Tkay effortlessly energized the crowd and made her way down the setlist. She drew everyone into her world with ‘Ring-a-Ling’, ‘Free Throws’, and ‘Silent Assassin’ and it had her fans through the roof rapping every single lyric. A stand-out moment in the show was her vocal ability on songs such as ‘Awake’, where she sang soulfully into her flower and vine-wrapped mic.
As the night rounded out, Tkay ended the set with ‘Kim’ and left the stage but the crowd cheered “Tkay” for the encore. She came back out to close the night with ‘Where Is My Mind?’ and ‘High Beams’. In all, Tkay Maidza’s immense talent lit up the stage and has solidified her status as a true rockstar and her show is one you wouldn’t want to miss.
