After a plague of show cancellations due to covid and other illnesses as both a support act and headliner, British singer-songwriter Tom Walker was finally able to kick off a headline tour of his own in Manchester and it took only seconds for the superstar to show that he had no rust in his performance whatsoever. Tom Walker rose to fame in 2017/18 after a successful run of single releases with the tracks “Just you and I”, “Heartland” and his biggest track to date, “Leave a light on”. His debut studio album “What a Time To Be Alive” was announced soon after and features both “Leave a light on” and “Just you and I”. The album was a fantastic showcase of Tom’s emotional and impactful song writing abilities and in in early 2020, “What a Time to Be Alive” achieved platinum accreditation here in the Uk. Tom Walker announced his return to live shows in the UK at the end of 2022 with a run of intimate shows across the UK in a tour titled, “The Best Is Yet To Come”. Tickets flew off the shelves with Tom Walker selling out the entirety of this special tour and we were lucky enough to catch Tom as he kicked off the run of shows in Manchester down at the Manchester Academy 2. If I had to take away one thing from this special show it has to be that I’m eagerly awaiting the next album and or project from Tom Walker as I am excited to see what he has been writing and sitting on as it’s sure to be something special. Support for the night came from the rising star Persia Holder.
