Wale @ The House of Blues – Houston, TX

If you didn’t already know it, or even if you did—it’s time to acknowledge that Wale is a force to be reckoned with. Whether that’s on the stage or in the studio, Wale will bring a show. Fans from the very front row to the very back bar waited with high anticipation for the hip-hop star to come out and perform. Chants filled the venue as his opening DJ came to a gradual silence—with shouts of “(We) love you” and “Wale! Wale! Wale!” taking over everyone in the venue.

Making his way to the stage, Wale opened his show with his 2011 hit “Lotus Flower Bomb” causing the crowd to erupt in excitement. Being greeted with the smooth vocals of Miguel on the opening track, House of Blues was ready for this show. If there were any doubt that Wale’s “still got it”, said doubt does not exist anymore. Making his way to tour in an era of hip-hop that isn’t necessarily what he came from proves his enduring talent.

With his shades on and nothing able to stop him, Wale continued with hits such as “PYT” and “Bad” bringing the audience back to the early 2010s. With fans swaying back and forth to hands thrown in the air, it became obvious that Wale isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Just as loud as the throwback hits, fans cheered and sang along through his tracks off of his latest release “Wow… That’s Crazy” which really encapsulates the entirety of his performance…crazy.

Crazy to the college student fans, crazy to the middle-aged fans, to the security in the pit. Crazy in the way that’s it’s nowhere near over for Wale. From taking off in 2009 to performing to sold out crowds throughout the country, including Houston, the hip-hop talent is here to stay and we’re going to welcome him back every single time.
