Music, Why Not!

Wallows @ White Oak Music Hall – Houston, TX

Wallows performed their last show in Houston on their “Tell Me That It’s Over” tour and wow, was it an incredible and memorable show.

Fans were lined up as early as 8am to see their favorite band, they endured extreme heat, and even got rained on, it left me admiring their dedication. As soon as doors opened, fans sped walk to get as close as possible to the barricade, once they secured their spot you could hear them cheer in excitement as they were getting closer and closer to showtime and that their time waiting in extreme conditions would soon pay off.

The show started with opener Spill Tab. She came out, talked to everyone and made jokes about the Houston weather, which made everyone laugh. She played songs such as “Anybody Else”, “Velcro”, and “Cotton Candy”. She grabbed many fans’ attention and you could see them enjoying her vibe. It was also noticed that there were a few fans who were singing every single word of the songs she sang, encouraging others to listen to her music. As the set ended, she  asked if everyone was ready for Wallows and the crowd cheered in excitement, she thanked the band for allowing her to perform with them before leaving the stage.

It was finally time for Wallows to perform, they all came out, bowed and talked to fans. They said that they were having some technical difficulties due to the rain but that as soon as everything was fixed, they would give us a great final show. Meanwhile, lead singer Dylan Minette took the time to interact one on one with fans. After all was fixed, it was time for the show to begin, they opened with “I Don’t Want to Talk” and immediately the fans cheered and sang along. Everyone was so excited that they were finally seeing the band perform, many of these fans were first timers seeing the band and waited months to see them due to unfortunate postponements. The show continued with more songs such as “Pleaser”, “Scrawny” and “Drunk on Halloween”, they played a great range of their songs from their entire discography.

The show was stopped mid set due to a fan needing help in the crowd, Minette made sure that security went to the area that was needed and did not start again until the fans were okay. They were originally going to skip the song they were playing but after fans cheered for them to play it, they complied and did. The band said that the last song they were going to play was “Guitar Romantic Search Adventure” and wanted fans to sing at the top of their lungs, as soon as the song ended they walked off stage and thanked everyone for coming. A few moments later, the band came back out and said they had a few more songs to go, and if it was okay for them to play them, the crowd cheered “yes” and so the show continued. The set ended with “Are You Bored Yet?” a personal, and fan favorite song. As soon as the first few seconds of the song played, the entire venue cheered and started singing along. Fans immediately pulled out their phones to start recording, to rewatch that moment later on in their life. The band thanked everyone for coming out to the last show and  for enduring the rain, which made the show more memorable. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this band, if they ever come to a city near you please attend, you will not regret it!
