Less than a week after the release of his self-titled and third LP, Jared James Nichols threw a couple of album release parties, including one in Los Angeles. For the occasion he picked The Peppermint Club in West Hollywood. The venue has a maximum capacity of a little over 200 people and was the perfect choice for an intimate concert.

The night’s event was presented by KLOS radio and a few words were said to honor the memory of David Crosby. With little to no transition, Robert Jon & The Wreck took the stage at 8:20pm to open the show with a killer set of southern rock. The band played for 40mn, treated the crowd with a brand-new song and ended their performance with an extended version of “Cold Night” with incredible guitar and keyboard solos. The musicians were excellent and raised the bar pretty high for the rest of the night.

At 9:20pm, Jared James Nichols and his musicians got up on stage. They got the night started with “My Delusion”, the opening track of the new record, which got the fans excited and ready for more. JJN announced they would be playing the whole album front to back and received a roaring response by the crowd in anticipation of an amazing night. Throughout the evening the Wisconsin giant made his guitar cry with his unique finger picking technique and each solo had the floor in awe. Dennis Holm kept banging heavily on his drum set, while Diego Edsel ensured a steady groove on the bass, while taking care of back-up singing too. The raw and heavy energy delivered by the trio was incredible, and their sound bridged the gap between blues-rock and hard rock with a hint of grunge. Towards the end of the show, Jared came down to the floor to play an amazing solo while taking selfie with a fan and asking a young man to strum his strings while his left hand kept shredding the neck of his guitar. After playing his new album entirely, JJN played an extra song “Nails in my coffin” which was a single release from 2019 and treated the crowd with a couple of covers: Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and Alice In Chains’ “Man In A Box”.

The show ended slightly before 10:30, and Jared came out to the side of the stage for an impromptu meet and greet, which delighted every fan in attendance.
