Seattle singer-songwriter-producer Parisalexa does not fall short to express, empower and explore with her musical performance at Chop Suey on November 14, 2018 to a sold out show. Her seamless blend of RnB, Hip-Hop and Pop uniquely navigates introspective storytelling of romance, self-love and the implications of femininity as what is true to her. Parisalexa brings out a crowd filled with a close-knit community of Seattle artists, performers or not. It is clear that she has a great support system, and that the local talent is out to bring her friends along for the ride, to put Seattle on the radar with her reach as an established artist. An undeniable influence in the room carried an even greater energy from a night of celebrating a breakthrough year following the release of her debut EP Bloom and four-track mixtape FLEXA. I was grateful to take part in these moments of a sense of belonging and unity in the northwest through her art. She has a lot of momentum going and it was refreshing to see her in front of more eager fans with an intent to inspire and spread love.

One highlight included the crowd’s unified voice during Ballin, Parisalexa’s most streamed song (1.4 million Spotify streams). Bouncing and truly vibing with everyone in the room was an experience to remember. A guest appearance from MistaDC, a fellow Seattle singer, for her song Gardensfrom the Bloom EP lit up the room in Seattle camaraderie in NW artists. We all want to see Seattle succeed, and we see the sound reaching broader and broader audiences. The influence on Seattle in the greater music scene is happening here and now with nights like this and people like Parisalexa. A truly talented individual who keep up with the best while creating her own path. She’s on an upward trajectory and I hope you take the chance to catch the wave.
