Atlanta-based R&B/Soul singer-songwriter, Teddy Swims (Jaten Dimsdale), is grinding through the beginning of 2020 under the palm of his hands. With the recent release of his new track, “Picky”, Swims is steadily building his original material while soothing his day one fans with his own covers of successful chart-topping hits and cult classics. Known for being a successful YouTube R&B/Soul cover artist, most of his successful videos have reached up to the millions, with his rendition of Shania Twain’s ‘You’re Still the One’ reaching up to fifteen million views. He has covered artists such as Michale Jackson, Lewis Capaldi, Amy Winehouse, and Mario. As far as his content, two of his tracks, ‘Someone You Loved’ and ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ have reached up to over one million views on Spotify. With his harmonizing vocals and stellar vocal range, as well as his soothing and calm energy, Swims lives up to the meaning of an underrated R&B/soul artist.

Although he mentioned that Swims stands for: someone who isn’t me sometimes, due to his struggle to integrate himself in various parts. He has managed to overcome that struggle with having a sold-out tour and breaking the barriers needed for success. He brought his 2020 North American tour to Toronto’s own Rivoli and brought Vancouver-born, California-based singer-songwriter Emily Brimlow with him.

Starting off the show was Canadian-American singer Emily Brimlow. She started the show with a quirky note when she performed some tracks that she has released before. Being the only woman with a guitar and performing on her own, the Vancouver born, California based artist managed to sway the crowd with her interesting stories, stellar performing, and her excellent guitar playing skills. She also played a new song called Misfits and managed to promote her Instagram experience and life with her and her boyfriend.

After Emily’s set, Atlanta singer Teddy Swims finally came up to the stage with his band and fans of all ages were finally waiting at this moment and enjoyed every part of it. Swims performed a variety of his original tracks including Rivers, Night Off, Someone You Loved, and Picky. Most of his fans, who were between their early-30’s to mid-’60s, felt every word and every emotion that Teddy portrayed and valued. Spotted with an all-white attire, he explained the story of his journey to Canada and explained that it was an emotional moment for him to realize that he has fans outside of the United States and that it was a great feeling to see his music connect with lots of people throughout the world. His performance that night matched up to what I have expected through his music, since his vocal range was as soothing and radiant as in the videos, and that his stellar stage performance and crowd interaction was very heartwarming and beautiful.

Teddy Swims gave his all for his set and it was beautiful from beginning to end and one that most fans will never forget. Teddy Swims will continue on his tour until February 19th, 2020 at the Loft in Atlanta, Georgia.
