The Bleachers brought the How Dare You Want tour to Houston and wow, was it such a fun show.

The show required proof of vaccination or a negative covid test within 48 hours, you could hear many fans be pleased with this regulation as it made them feel safer about attending the concert. The show started with opener Allison Ponthier, a Texas native. The indie folk singer grabbed many of the fans attention, she is definitely someone to keep an eye out.

The time finally came for The Bleachers to perform, consisting of Jack Antanoff and touring members. The show started with Antanoff infront of a TV singing “91”, immediately the fans started screaming, cheering and singing along. The scene then changed to him performing under a light post and immediately playing the piano right after, myself and the fans were amazed at the production so early on in the show. A few songs into the set he even had saxophone players perform next to him, the energy in the room was incredible. The band continued to play songs from all their albums such as “Wild Heart”, “Big Life” and one of my favorites, “I Miss Those Days”.

Antanoff also covered Jersey Girl with improvised lyrics to fit Houston. The crowd totally enjoyed the rendition that was made and sang their lungs out during the actual song. After a brief moment of talking with fans, “Rollercoaster” was performed. Antanoff told everyone to enjoy the moment as much as possible, he told all the fans to get up, get on each other’s shoulders and rage at the song. He stopped the song mid way saying we could do better in terms of “raging”, he even mentioned that Austin was louder than we were, encouraging some friendly competition for us fans. Overall, this was one of my favorite moments during the show.

As the show proceeded more songs were played like “Nothing is U”, “45” and “I Wanna Get Better”. The show ended with “Stop Making This Hurt”. This night was truly one of my favorite shows in a while. The stage presence, set design, and the crowd were all beyond incredible. If The Bleachers ever come to a city near you please please make sure to attend, I can guarantee it will be phenomenal.
